In response to current challenges of global climate change, and to explore how urban planning, smart city development, and climate adaptation strategies can achieve the ultimate goal of net-zero emissions, CSDI, in collaboration with the University of Taipei, co-hosted the “2025 International Conference of Net-zero Urban Planning and Design” on August 29-30, 2025. We invited distinguished experts and scholars from home and abroad, including Italy, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia, to take part in this grand event.
Centered on “Taiwan’s Pathway to Net-Zero Emissions in 2050” policy and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 11, 13, and 17), the conference featured four major themes:
- Regional development and net-zero emissions
- Climate change and urban resilience
- Cutting-edge net-zero technologies and urban planning
- Smart cities and digital transformation
Through academic dialogue from diverse perspectives, the conference served as a platform where a more comprehensive theoretical foundation and practical strategies were offered for advancing net-zero urban planning, thereby strengthening Taiwan's sustainable governance and net-zero agency.
