Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology trends inevitably impact public services and governance. To better understand how countries with similar socio-economic contexts, such as Korea, are responding to these AI trends, our institution organized the international forum titled "AI Challenges and Government Governance Responses: Taiwan-Korea Dialogue" on January 16, 2025. The forum featured scholars from the Department of Public Administration at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea for keynote speeches and dialogue with Taiwanese experts from government, industry, and academia.
The forum was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Each session included a 50-minute keynote speech delivered by Professor Gi-Heon Kwon and Associate Professor Il Hwan Chung, respectively. The topics were "Policy Science and Korean Digital Strategy" and "Public Management and Policy with A.I. and Machine Learning Approach: A Case Study on Financial Management". Following the speeches, a 60-minute panel discussion was held, featuring one South Korean scholar, one Taiwanese scholar, and one representative from either the industry or government. The discussions aimed to explore potential models for administrative innovation and directions for public service transformation driven by AI technology, and to propose forward-looking policy recommendations.
